The High Commission of the Republic of Ghana in Ottawa is pleased to inform that Honourable James Gyakye Quayson, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, undertook a successful engagement with members of the Ghanaian Community in Ottawa and Montreal as part of his official visit to Canada.
The engagements were held as follows: the meeting with the Ghanaian community in Ottawa took place on Friday, 29th August 2025, followed by a similar interaction with the community in Montreal on Saturday, 30th August 2025.
These interactions were undertaken subsequent to the official inauguration of the Sankofa Square in Toronto on Saturday, 23rd August 2025, a historic event jointly led by Honourable Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, and Honourable James Gyakye Quayson.
During the interactions, key issues concerning the welfare and aspirations of Ghanaians in Canada were discussed extensively, with particular emphasis on diaspora engagement, investment opportunities, and support policies being made by the Government of Ghana for Ghanaians living outside the country. Members of the community also had the opportunity to share their perspectives and offer recommendations on ways to deepen collaboration.
The High Commission remains dedicated to continuous dialogue with its diaspora and to building stronger partnerships that will contribute to the realisation of the Government of Ghana's development agenda.
