The High Commission of Ghana in Ottawa, alongside Ghana’s Permanent Representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization and the Aeronautical Society of Ghana led by the Ministry of Transport, successfully initialed the Air Transport Agreement between Ghana and Canada as well as signed a Memorandum of Understanding with their Canadian counterparts on 5th March 2025,in Montreal. This momentous occasion marks a significant milestone in the strengthening of bilateral relations between Ghana and Canada.
The newly established agreement paves the way for Air Canada to launch direct flights from Toronto to Accra in the coming months, heralding the first-ever direct air service connecting Canada to Sub-Saharan Africa. This initiative aims to simplify travel for individuals and businesses alike, eliminating the complexities of navigating indirect routes through the United States, Europe, or the Middle East.
The benefits of this agreement extend far beyond mere convenience. It promises to enhance connectivity, promote tourism, and stimulate economic growth between our countries. By fostering closer ties, the agreement will enable increased collaboration in various sectors, reinforcing the strong bilateral relationship we share with Canada.
We are excited about the opportunities this agreement will create, not just for travelers but for businesses seeking to expand their horizons. As we embark on this new chapter in our diplomatic journey, we invite all Ghanaian communities in Canada to embrace this milestone and explore the possibilities it presents. Together, let's strengthen our connections and contribute to the vibrant future of Ghana-Canada relations.
