On Wednesday, 25th November 2025, Her Excellency Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, High Commissioner of the Republic of Ghana to Canada, formally presented her Letters of Credence, together with the Letters of Recall of her predecessor, to the Honourable Suzanne Côté, Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada and Deputy Governor General. Justice Côté received the letters on behalf of Her Excellency the Right Honourable May J. Simon, Governor General of Canada.
The ceremony, held at Rideau Hall, marked the official commencement of High Commissioner Edu-Buandoh’s duties in Canada. The presentation reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and continuing the longstanding friendship between Ghana and Canada.
With her accreditation now complete, Her Excellency Professor Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh is set to begin her work in Canada, advancing Ghana’s interests and opening new avenues for cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchange. Her mandate will focus on promoting Ghana’s economic diplomacy, encouraging Canadian investment in key sectors such as energy, mining, agriculture, and technology, and expanding opportunities for Ghanaian exports in the Canadian market. She will also prioritize educational and cultural partnerships, fostering people-to-people connections that reinforce mutual understanding and goodwill between the two nations.
In addition to her bilateral responsibilities, the High Commissioner will engage actively with Canada’s diplomatic community and international organizations based in Ottawa, ensuring that Ghana’s voice is heard on issues of global importance, including peace, democracy, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
The presentation of Letters of Credence thus paves the way for a new chapter in Ghana–Canada relations, strengthening cooperation and reaffirming Ghana’s determination to build on the longstanding bonds of friendship and shared values.
