-Ottawa-23rd April 2026 The Ghana High Commission in Ottawa welcomed a delegation from the University of Ottawa for a strategic engagement focused on strengthening academic cooperation and developing new partnership opportunities with institutions in Ghana. Her Excellency Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, who highlighted the importance of education as a central pillar of Ghana–Canada relations. Discussions centred on aligning the University’s expertise with Ghana’s national priorities in areas such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, artificial intelligence, health education, and bilingual learning. Both parties explored new areas of collaboration, including joint research programmes, academic exchanges, capacity-building initiatives, and the development of dual and joint degree pathways between the University of Ottawa and Ghanaian universities. The discussion also highlighted the value of partnerships that promote practical, solution-oriented research while expanding opportunities for students and faculty on both sides. In addition, discussions included the renewal of the Agreement of Cooperation between the Ghana Scholarship Authority and the University of Ottawa. The renewal is expected to reflect the evolving priorities of both institutions. Representatives from the University of Ottawa expressed strong interest in deepening institutional ties with Ghana and universities in advancing collaborative initiatives that address global and regional challenges.
