Ottawa — 19 January 2026- Her Excellency, Prof. Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, High Commissioner of Ghana to Canada, paid a courtesy visit to Carleton University on Friday, 16 January 2026, following a formal invitation from the University.
During the visit, Her Excellency met with the President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Wisdom Tetteh, a distinguished Ghanaian academic and the management of the University. Discussions reaffirmed the strong and growing partnership between Carleton University and Ghana, with a shared commitment to expanding academic and research collaboration, as well as student and faculty exchange opportunities. The High Commission expressed its readiness to collaborate with the University across its key areas of strength, including public policy, governance, international affairs and diplomacy, science and engineering, business and entrepreneurship, environmental and climate studies, and sustainable development.
The High Commissioner underscored the need to operationalize existing Memoranda of Understanding between Carleton University and Ghanaian institutions. She further encouraged the University to broaden its recruitment beyond elite schools in Ghana by creating pathways for talented but financially disadvantaged Ghanaian students to benefit from scholarship opportunities.
Carleton University expressed appreciation for the visit and congratulated Her Excellency on her appointment. Both sides agreed to deepen collaboration through continued engagements at the departmental level to advance academic, cultural, and institutional cooperation.
