H.E. PROF. DORA FRANCISCA EDU-BUANDOH
Her Excellency Professor Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh is Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada, appointed by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama on October 1, 2025.
An accomplished academic, she holds a PhD in Language, Literacy and Culture from the University of Iowa (USA), an MPhil and BA in English Language from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), a Diploma in Education from UCC and Teachers’ Certificate ‘A’ from Komenda College, Ghana. She also holds a TESOL Certificate from the University of Wisconsin–Madison (USA).
Professor Edu-Buandoh made history as the first female Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (2019–2021), having earlier served as Provost of the College of Humanities and Legal Studies, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Head of the Department of English. Her leadership advanced academic excellence, strengthened international partnerships, and enhanced the University’s global visibility.
She also chaired Ghana’s Article 71 Presidential Committee on Emoluments (2016) and has earned recognition as a Fulbright Scholar and DAAD Alumna.
A passionate advocate for women’s education, she is the Founder and Executive Director of the Dora Edu-Buandoh Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation supporting underprivileged female students in higher education, particularly from Ghana’s Central Region.
